ECRP

Endoscopic  retrograde cholangiopancreatography, or ERCP, is a procedure that uses an endoscope and X-rays to diagnose and treat problems in the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas.

An endoscope is passed through the mouth, oesophagus and stomach, and into the first part of the small intestine called the duodenum.

A small tube is inserted through the endoscope and guided into the opening of the bile and pancreatic ducts.

A contrast dye is injected into the ducts to make them visible on X-rays.

The doctor uses X-ray (fluoroscopy) to view the structures and identify any issues.
