Ultrasound

An ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create pictures of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. It’s a non-invasive procedure where a transducer probe, coated in gel, is moved over the skin, sending sound waves into the body and capturing the echoes to form a real-time image on a computer screen called a sonogram.

Common uses of ultrasound:

⇒Pregnancy monitoring: To check the health and development of a foetus, assessment of its growth, and screening for certain conditions.

⇒Disease diagnosis: To help diagnose a wide range of medical conditions, that may include abdominal issues, gallbladder disease, and tumors.

⇒Blood flow evaluation: To monitor blood flow and identify problems like clots or narrowed arteries.

⇒Medical procedure guidance: To guide a needle during a biopsy or other treatment.

⇒Soft tissue examination: To visualize organs, glands, and muscles, and to examine lumps to see if they are fluid-filled or solid.
